Here is a page of an interactive ebook I’m working on at the moment. It’s a children’s picturebook called “Es Barruguet des Picatxets”, something like “The Pixie of the Picatxets”. “The Picatxets” is a place name on Es Vedrà, an islet placed off the coast of Ibiza island. The story is written by Oscar Ferrer and is set in 18th century Ibiza island.

Ésta es una página de un ebook interactivo en el cual estoy trabajando. Es un cuento infantil titulado “Es Barruguet des Picatxets”,  escrito por Oscar Ferrer, y ambientado en la Ibiza del siglo XVIII. “Es Picatxets” es un topónimo del islote de Es Vedrà, situado frente a la costa de Ibiza.

‘Es Barruguet des Picatxets’ – Puppet Show visual development

Recently I have been working on a quite interesting, fun and unusual assignment. Basically, I was asked to design and illustrate the backgrounds and characters for a children’s puppet show by Comica Espectacles, a theater and pedagogical spectacles company. The play would be something between a puppet show and a storyteller show, to be more accurate.

The title of the show is ‘Es Barruguet des Picatxets’, something like ‘the pixie of the picatxets’. A barruguet is a type of little magic creature in old fairytales of my homeland, Ibiza island, and has some similarities to the pixies of british folklore. ‘Es Picatxets’ is the name of a place on the island of ‘Es Vedrà’, off the coast of main Ibiza island ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Es_Vedr%C3%A0 ).

Recientemente he estado trabajando en un divertido encargo, muy interesante y poco habitual: Diseñar e ilustrar los decorados y personajes de un espectáculo de marionetas de Comica Espectacles, una compañia de teatro y espectáculos pedagógicos. La obra vendria a ser algo a medio camino entre un espectáculo de marionetas y una actuación de cuentacuentos.

El título de la obra es ‘Es Barruguet des Picatxets’. Un barruguet es una especie de pequeña criatura mágica del folklore ibicenco, parecido a un duende. ‘Es Picatxets’ es el topónimo de un lugar en la isla de Es Vedrà, situada frente a la costa de Ibiza ( http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isla_de_Es_Vedr%C3%A1 ).
