If you are in or around Melbourne – Australia this Friday 20 October, you are very welcome to attend the launch of Dr. Samuel Alexander’s latest book ‘Art Against Empire: Toward an Aesthetics of Degrowth’, in which I have humbly participated with one of my illustrations. The book collects over 170 ‘culture jamming’ works of art from artists around the globe, and reflects on the role of art in driving social, environmental and political change. Dr Alexander will briefly discuss these ideas at the launch in relation to the emerging ‘degrowth’ movement.

The book will be launched by Matt Wicking, from the band The General Assembly, one of Melbourne’s finest and most poetic musicians. Matt will also perform a song to open and close the proceedings.

El libro recopila más de 170 obras de arte de “interferencia cultural” de artistas de todo el mundo y reflexiona sobre el papel del arte en el cambio social, ambiental y político. El Dr. Alexander discutirá brevemente estas ideas en el lanzamiento en relación con el movimiento emergente del “decrecimiento”.

El libro será presentado por Matt Wicking, de la banda The General Assembly, uno de los músicos más reconocidos y poéticos de Melbourne. Matt también interpretará una canción para abrir y cerrar el evento.
